11 Days
Its midnight which means in 11 days i will be walking across the stage and accepting my diploma. Four years I’ve been at this school and of course i always knew this day would come but even up to this year it hadn’t quite sunk in yet. Today it did. I thought when it would finally hit me that i wasn’t going to be in college that i would be scared but instead i find myself excited. So excited I’m actually wide awake at midnight on a Monday which doesn’t usually happen (this year I’ve actually been going to bed at a reasonable hour of the night, weird right). I’m excited for summer, i don’t know how long it will last but I’m going to make every day count. I’m excited to get a job and start saving (Ive got some big plans on the horizon). I’m excited to have my own place…or at least my own room. College has been a great time and place for me, looking back four years ago its hard to image i was the person i was and i am so much happier with the man i am today. I am more confident in myself, i don’t doubt that i can be great if i put my mind to it, which i plan to do. I traveled the world, i went to 42 concerts (yeah thats over 10 a year), I worked my ass off, I made friends and memorizes that will be with me till i’m old and grey. In these next 11 days i plan to really take this place in, i will probably never live this close to the ocean again might as well enjoy the beauty of it while i still can. I haven’t always appreciated this school, but i will always know that i made the right decision coming here. There will be some lasts this week, Thursday will be my last time that i will be in a college class and Friday will be my last chapel as a point loma student. In 11 days it will be my time to shine, my moment of glory, the toast will be in my honor. I’m ready for whats next for what is around the next corner for the rest of my life.

Dragon Tattoo
So right before i left for Germany over a year and a half ago one of my friends told me about this book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. Since i was leaving to study abroad and my flight to Berlin was 14 hours i thought i would pick myself up a copy. I read some of the book on the plane and wasn’t all that impressed, the plot just seemed kinda slow and there where a ton of characters with names that you had to keep track of so i didn’t do much reading for a while. Well as time went on i actually did get into reading it some more and once i got past the slower introduction section i was hooked. I finished reading the first book of the series when i was in Paris and ended up finding the second book, The Girl Who Played With Fire, in an english book store. I finished the second book in a week…so naturally i went out and tried to find the third and final installment, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest. Unfortunately i couldn’t find an English version in Berlin but my mom was quite kind and sent me one. Now you may be asking alright Blake why are you writing about this now then, well person who reads this i only read half of the final book while i was in Berlin and then i got super busy with school and what not so i didn’t end up finishing the book till today. And it was GREAT! I had about 200 hundred pages left at the start of this week, so yesterday, and i just powered through the rest. I highly recommend reading the series, and hey the movies (three swedish and one american) aren’t to bad either, but definitely read the books.
